Convert to a new sport

After having it explained to me last week in a very drunken state in a bar in Philadelphia and watching in said bar three games , I am now converted to Baseball!!

I originally thought it just like rounders and other girly girly games, but it is actually much more than that

When I first moved to the USA I arrived in Orange County in Southern California just as The Dodgers were on the way to winning the World Series (mind you, only 2 countries are actually involved). Mexican pitcher Fernando Valenzuela was outstanding and became a new local hero, whilst not even able to speak English.

A few months later and I was living in San Francisco, where The 49ers went on to win The Super Bowl of American Football, and enjoyed the local fervour and subsequent euphoria in that city.

I got introduced to both main US sports at the best possible times and places.

A couple of years further on, and having moved south again to Los Angeles, and The LA Kings went to the Stanley Cup Final, and had the amazing legend Wayne Gretzky playing for them (the greatest ice-hockey player ever).

I just hope life gets re-lived or reviewed on judgement day, because I'm going to be ecstatic standing in the dock watching all that again

Baseball is a great sport. I support the Diamondbacks but also have a soft spot for the Brewers.

Hate the Cubs though. Nothing worse than a cubs fan.

Cubs are easy to hate. But then I don't much care for Milwaukee this morning !

of all the american sports (baseball, american football, ice hockey and basketball) I've see the latter 3 played live so cant speak for baseball but my favourite was ice hockey in as much as TV doesn't really do it justice and i really enjoyed seeing it live as it gave a chance to appreciate much more about the game.

However I did regularly go and see Brighton Bears basketball and will probably go to a few worthing thunder games this season. Durrington Leisure centre isn't quite as good as the Brighton Centre though.

I'm due back in the states later this year so aiming to get to see American football (Buffalo Bills). Possibility of a trip in a few weeks so will try and get to see some lower league baseball too.

I have seen baseball, basketball and ice hockey live, would definitely say the last was my favourite, the atmosphere in the stadium was excellent and the hockey itself was incredible...having tried to play the game I can appreciate the skill involved, way different from playing field hockey on skates...and, much, much, faster. The other two definitely have their merits, probably better watched live than on the box, it wouldn't take much to persuade me to go and watch another game.

All American sports are shite... and that, my friend, is a FACT.

Actually, it may actually just be my opinion.

Maybe baseball is ok, but it is only rounders after-all - but everyone gets so drunk whilst watching, they don't notice.

Baseball is very good on the Wii though.

America Rugby (it aint football, sorry) is just dire... I can't even begin to explain my hatred for that 'sport'.

Basketball - never liked it; loads of freaks running about.

Ice Hockey - looks fun - I always enjoy watching it when it's on telly, especially the Olympics - Russia versus USA is always good entertainment.

So, perhaps I like ice hockey.

Basketball is much better live than on TV.

Worthing Thunder = Brighton Bears = Worthing Bears in my mind.

Worthing LC although smaller probably has a better atmosphere than the Brighton Centre. Hopefully the Thunder will do well in their first season in the BBL. Everton FC have a team.

I thought I liked baseball, and then I watched some games all the way through and found it was extremely dull.

I love and adore cricket but I think I might fall out of love with it if most games had less than 10 runs scored.
