We never had a chance. Just like we never had a chance last season of signing him when we were BELOW Port Vale and he said he wanted to leave for a Championship club.

BUT it makes the board look like they are trying to sign top players without actually having to put their hand in their pockets.

I do wonder if Constantine is a bit of a one season wonder to be honest. I know he scored goals for Port Vale this season, but at 28 he's not exactly young, and he has never produced the goods for several other lower league teams before. In short, I am not bothered to miss out on him one bit.
Well he's better than players we currently have.

We offered him a £3,000 A WEEK pay rise, which he admitted himself was very tempting, so we were in with a chance as PV had also accepted the offer we made.
