Very interesting - totally by coincidence, was just having a chat on this very subject with my colleague who's just been reporting out of Baghdad for two years. He says Berg was involved in some very murky waters and may have been a spy for Israel.

Also, those two contractors who got killed and whose bodies were dragged about were only too aware of the risks they were taking by getting involved in that town. My colleague was partying with them not long before: big, burly ex-marines who thought themselves invincible apparently.
