Barry Lloyd did alright.

Wenger seems to make a profit on his dealings whilst maintaining a top 4 team.

I don't think any brighton managers of recent times have been in the job long enough to really show any consistency in the transfer market! Perhaps Micky Adams when first in charge for bringing in the players to get us 2 championships on the bounce with pretty much the same squad, not to mention the signing of zamora. but then again second time around his signings were pretty poor on the whole.

Didn't Dean White do pretty damn well with his only excursion into the transfer market?

Borrowdale and Owusu were good, Bangura and a goalkeeper who's name I can't remember were not so clever. There was also a centre half from Colchester who may have been called Matt Heath, whatever his name he was not good.

The 1st Peter Taylor was acknowledged as one of the best for spotting talent and he spotted many a great talent whilst with Derby & Forest. It wasn't all youngsters but sometimes experinced players you could build a team around.

he made many good signings for Albion. Rollings, Mellor, Machin, Grummit, Winstanley but the 2 outstanding were Wardy and Horton.

Contrast that with the signings of Peter Taylor 2 who scoured the reserve teams of teams in division below and discovered.....?

Coppell stands out in his short tenure... Sidwell, Rodger, Rougier, Blackwell, Beasant, Icelandic centre half, can't spell his name. All on loan but knew what he was doing.

Mickey Adams in his first reign signed a team that formed the spine of our first XI for years, two championships & that glorious play off win.
Although his signing of complete duffers in his second reign tarnishes his rep in my opinion i'd still go for him.

Prem wise can't look past Arsene Wenger. Other than his record for signing crap goalkeepers & dodgy lummocks centre halfs he's done an incredible job.

Micky Adams (1st time) - bought and built a side that stayed rock solid for years. In the Withdean era nobody else has come close.

Mullery :-

Williams
Lawrenson
Ryan
Poskett
Robinson
Foster
Smith
Moseley
Steele (Eric)
Stevens

I'd have to say Mullery or the original Peter Taylor. but in addtion to these the best value signing was Paul Clarke i just cant remember which one signed him. 30k and a powerful defensive midfielder.

Mullers signed Clarke and I think it was £100k for the teenager who went straight into the team to play Spurs infront of nearly 49,000 at WHL in the old div 2.

I remember the game well. My first away game we drew 0-0 and didnt have a shot on goal. All i remember was being in the Brighton end surrounded by massive spurs hooligans praying neither side scored. Still we thrashed them 3-1 at the goldstone :clap2:
