Fair point, Well at present we do have enough for the bathroom but i want to makesure that no other unforseen costs crop up before the contracts are signed and exchanged and solicitors have been paid.

So she may well get her bathroom straight away, i've just warned that may not happen.

This is exactly the kind of reason why I need a bird that's richer than me, I wouldn't put up with that shit.

I blame all these DIY programes. It's easy to get all carried away about your wonderful new home - don't underestimate the amount of time she's spent dreaming about it, looking at magazines, thinking about the new bathroom, chooosing colours, thinking about taps etc etc.

You're asking her to postpone her dream, so she's understandably a bit miffed. Most men are happy to live in shitholes as long as there's a fridge and a big f**k off telly and hi-fi, so she may be worried that you don't care about what your new house will look like.

Just tell her that you understand how much it means to her, it will happen, and it will be the most fantastic bathroom ever, you just want to make sure that you have enough money to get it exactly how she wants it, "nothing's too good for my gal" etc

I have been in my house for two years now with the mrs. I have decorated the lounge and dining room only cos it was still in the 70's.
The rest of the house needs doing badly, and she is always on about the bedroom. I totally agree I blame it on all these DIY programmes and keeping up with the Jones's, sod it theres more important things in life....like my new car I have just bought!!

I have compromised with the Mrs, she shuts up about the bedroom and I shut up about my new car.....easy.

Guess it will get done when a - we have the money and b - when I feel like getting of my ass and doing it.

She sould think herself lucky, being married to a plumber means that NOTHING ever gets done in our house. Our new patio was started in June & I said I wanted it done for Christmas. There are 12 flags laid, with about 200 still to go. I am not optimistic:angry:

Get this, we had a new conservatory to add more space to the house - now the suggestion is a piano.

My logic is why fill up the space we has the conservatory for in the first place - we don't seem to be making much headway at present.

More psychology....

Why does your missus want a piano? Is she - or one of your offspring - genuinely interested in playing? Then get one of those foldaway keyboard thingies.

Or does she think that it conveys status in a Hyacinth Bookay kind of way? In which case, I'm afraid BH, this is the only the beginning and I foresee gazebos, decking, electric barbeques and all kinds of superfluous paraphenalia cluttering up your Hut.

Very good Lush.

Think it is more on the line of offspring (younger).

Elder's brand new karate gear for sale already - understand why I am not happy with this idea ?

My wife and I are always coming to compromises so that we're both happy. Last year she wanted to go to Minorca on holiday and I wanted to go to Scandinavia. So we discussed it, and eventually we compromised - and went to Minorca.

She was happy, so therefore I was happy.

We have also been talking over our holidays, and finally settled on Trinidad & Tobago.
I'm going to Trinidad. :)
