Zamora is better than Knight (although not by an awful lot)
Brooker clearly better than Jones
Morgan better than Butters (our best player in that championship winning season IMHO)
Lewis better than Pethick (in midfield anyway. Although I always thought Lewis was over-rated)
McPhee better than Steele (Always thought Steele was shite, and his scoring record kind of confirmed it.)

So, 4-1 to the old team.

i have to agree there but i think that knight can potentally be better than zamora

Perhaps in time. It is too early to judge yet but don't forget how much of an Albion legend BZ was - remember that Bury goal?

oh yeah deffinetly bobby is an albion legend. just think that in 2-3 years time if knight is still with the club he would be near if not beaten zamora's scoreing record

oh yeah deffinetly bobby is an albion legend. just think that in 2-3 years time if knight is still with the club he would be near if not beaten zamora's scoreing record

The proof of the pudding may come next season if we get promoted and he does better than Bobby did against 1st Division defences.

Yeah but that shows that knight is an out and out striker end of it.

Zamora was the engine for us and scored lots aswell as many other things,so zammo is slightly better all round,but strikers are for scoring and thats sir leon to a tee.

I wasn't arguing who was better.

Leon has replaced Bobby's goals but we need more than that to be the team we were two years again. I think a partner for Leon who can hold the ball up and bring others into play is what we need. Add a midfielder and we're sorted.

Yeah thats why we miss bobster as he always got man of the match even when he didn't score.

Knight on a par with Zamora..BZ probably edges it. We are £1.4 better off.

Agree we need a winger. Jones is awful.

Blackwell is just as good as Morgan. Unfortunate he isn't as effective in the treatment room.

Rodger is as good as Lewis in midfield. Coppell made no attempt to resign Lewis.

Steele hardly ever played. He was a nice bloke but have you ever seen McPhee elbow someone, crash his car while pissed, always be injured, spend too much time drinking etc etc...

Lewis did not join until February time - so he should not be included just yet. By that time hopefully we will have a decent Midfielder playing for us.


The real blow is Blackwell and Rogers too key players and a big dollop of our playing budget out all season - when 2 years ago we had no such long term injuries
