Must admit, children being knocked over by cars at 40mph is a strange choice of 'set-up line' for a gag. Most of the ones I've attended end up as broken bits in a bodybag

Fair enough. Incidentally, I always thought that was quite a good advert. I also thougt the 'Don't Drink & Drive' one in the bar was good, where the woman got flung across the floor. Very powerful.

Yeah same here. I cant watch the second one anymore as it reminds me too much of an accident ive seen, makes me feel physically sick just thinking about it.

It IS funny because it's taking the piss out of yet another pointless advert that will have absolutely no effect on the way people drive. When was the last time you thought 'ooh i better slow down because of that advert on the telly the other day'? Public information adverts on the whole are ineffective.

Agree about the ineffectiveness of Public Information adverts. Some even (viz the 'Heroin screws you up' one a few years back) actually have the opposite effect.

But ... I've missed something. That picture comes from an advert telling you not to speed. Why the reference to comedy and pianos? Not being judgmental, just curious, like.

The point about public information films being useless is completely on the money.

I can recall:

Rolf Harris telling us how he nearly drowned as a kid because he couldn't swim..."you can bet your life my parents taught me how to straight away after".

As far as I am concerned, I wish they hadn't bothered.
