I have worked in sales floors before and we had a girl who had this done to her. She ended up with permanent ear damage so we tracked the guy down using police and he was prosecuted and went to jail, not to mention what happened to the poof girl with damaged hearing.

By all means shout if you need to but please stop with the whistle.

Firstly fella you are an out and out liar !!!
Law states if you receive any phonecalls to your private number ie home no then you can without prosecution deal with it in ANY WAY you feel fit etc
Secondly don't ring people at stupid o'clock expecting no reaction ! especially when people are already on the TPS, which i may add 80% of companies completely ignore therefore breaking the law !!!

Most of them don't. All they get is your name on screen. The dialer does the dialling and just provides a name to the VDU.

We get loads of calls that are displayed as "international", ie. Indian call-centres, so we ignore them. Doubt that TPS applies to them

I very much doubt there a any law that states " deal with it in ANY WAY you feel fit" as this is a very vague statement. i sure any law (although i doubt exists) will have it worded without any ambiguity.
Can you point us to where you read this ?

I kept one of the virus tossers on the phone for 30 minutes (I wasn't going anywhere, nothing on TV, so no loss to me) and he actually got me his supervisor who then promptly hung up on me when I demanded their address to report them. Was insisting he was calling "from London" and was called Tim despite most likely being in Bangalore and phoning from an unwitheld (albeit probably faked) far-eastern caller ID.

I do lots of cold calling, you got a phone and its what i do to earn money!! Anyone who is really rude will get bombarded, day and night.

As for people who say 'im on a prefered service and dont get cold calls, i ask how that system they PAY for is working for them.

Rude wifes are the best.

My response to these callers is that I send a cheque to the charities I support, therby cutting out the middleman.
