The Uzbeks were the ones who complained about it and now they've been punished for the refs mistake. It pretty much sums up the "quality" of Asian refs, this bloke must obviously have been thought of as one of the best!

At the time the Uzbek players went mad when he gave the freekick for encroachment, but even the Bahrain players were having a go at the ref.

Here's a thought though. Next year they'll be a few refs from Asia officiating during the World Cup. I just pray we don't get one of them.

Maybe he gave a penalty, they scored from it but he disallowed the goal for encroachment or something.

The ref gave Uzbekistan a penalty. Uzbekistan scored to make the game 2-0 to them, but the ref disallowed it because an Uzbek player had encroached into the area while it was being taken. He then gave Bahrain an indirect free kick instead of ordering a retake of the penalty as the rules state. No-one has heard from him since the end of the game.

I saw this on Eurosport yesterday and they didn't question the decision which made me think I'd gone nuts as i was certain it should be re-taken. This proves always trust your judgement over that of a dodgy ref!
