They where going on about the greenhouse gases 15 years ago but now one took any notice then, they thought it was a joke. No one cares as long as it does not effect them in their lifetime, but your children could suffer in the future.

I do care about the enviroment, I save water when I can and have started recycling as well. Im not a greeny, but when you think about the amount of waste we create in one household its very very scary.

The same goes for computer bits, I have 5 boxed piled high of old motherboards, hard drives, instead of throwing I will probably put something together with it and re use it, there is too much electronic waste.

Cars. Becuase I work only 3.5 miles away I cycle rain or shine. I do this to keep healthy however just recently I l have seen how many cars are on the road. It's too many. So think about the pollution happening here. Another 10 years this countries gonna be in gridlock, so mr shiny Range Rover will have to get his fat f***ing arse on his bike.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/5344208.stmI must admit, it did scare me this morning. What can be done? What will be done? And what practical things can be done by the common man - personally I feel powerless at an individual level.
A simple answer to your questions is 1)Stop pumping carbon into the atmosphere 2)Plant more trees/stop cutting down rain forest. The sad truth is that at an indivual level you are powerless, and to be honest it's probably not worth going out of your way to try and change things, because even if everyone in this country went green and stopped using cars etc, there are still other countries moving very quickly in the other direction, i.e China, who currently have a huge coal mining industry, because that is their main power source.
In short, as a species we're f***ed, but it will probably only be in 100-200 years time when the general population realises this. Like other people have said, no one will take it seriously because they don't understand.

P.S Without wanting to sound like a doom monger, I rekon a disease will get us before climate change does. Have a nice day

Read The Sceptical Environmentalist by Bjorn Lomberg if you want a more balanced view
Of course we WANT a "more balanced" view... ideally one that says "Don't worry about the hysterical green propaganda about the end of the world. It'll be alright as long as I ride my bike a couple of times next summer".

Unfortunately, it's looking increasingly likely that things are WORSE than anyone thought.

Life in 100 years time will be very interesting. Shame that none of us will be there to say sorry.

Is that how you read The Sceptical Environmentalist?
