Every time they start a gay chant in the ground, every one should get up,turn around and bend over.:lolol:

Myself, Soton Seagull and one non-NSC supporter were walking to the ground past a pub of City fans. As we approached, one of them turned to us and shouted some amusing ditty about being gay and the like. The only problem was that there was a real sense of menace in his voice.

I just smiled and we walked on. As we walked away, we heard him shouting "come on then, do you want some?", and it sounded like he was following us. Not quite the afternoon we had planned, but we just kept walking!

Going to and from the game, I was appalled at the number of homophobic references. True, every set of supporters has its lunkheads, but it seemed to be the norm down there yesterday.

On the way to the ground, we were accosted by a group of dickheads, screaming right in our faces YOU'RE GAY, DOES YOUR BOYFIREND KNOW YOU'RE HERE..' and all the usual crap.

On the way out, a Brighton fan and his wife/girlfriend were driving their car away and this Cro-Magnon throwback started screaming 'YOU'RE GAY, YOU POOFTER, AND SHE'S A LESBIAN. COME ON, GET OUT OF THE CAR AND START SOMETHING YOU QUEER.'

Like I said, we get that low-minded shite all the time, and most of it just stupid bollocks, but after a while I just wanted to find a gun from somewhere...

At least you know it wasn't personal, Al. Otherwise they'd have taken the piss out of your ridiculous BEARD. :jester:

Cardiff, Swindon, Bristol, Plymouth - the South West. Fool.:dunce:

Anyway, I am certainly not bothered by the 'GAY' chanting. I am extremely proud to come from a city with such a diverse cultural lifestyle, even if the vast majority is not indigenous. My point was the people who see it as a term of abuse. Racism is not tolerated, why should homophobia.

Agree about the beard, though Safeway. It's about time the fucker came off. I was originally going to chop it off when Prescott said YES (much in the same way Fozzie didn't shave his beard til we went out of the FA Cup), but I am getting REALLY bored of waiting. And my beard is starting to look silly.

Anyone want to sponsor the Great Large One Beard Chop?

We have had the "gay" tag for years, have to say it doesn't bother me at all, I am just happy to come from a part of the country where by and large we accept people as we find them. The only times we get grief for it is when we visit parts of the country where evolution has yet to take a stranglehold and peoples views belong somewhere between prehistoric and stoneage.

So that would be most of the UK then?

Doesn't matter where we go, London (particularly homophobic), wales, North West, North East, Midlands, Yorkshire, South West, The West, Hampshire, Dorset, etc., etc. They all do it!

Being neither homosexual nor homophobic I am, nonetheless getting totally fed up with all of the knucklescrapers who think they are being original and witty. If it was remotely 'racist' there'd be no end of hand wringing and tut tutting from the authorities. Gay taunts? Oh, f*** 'em-dirty southern poof bastards. Reet bloody disgusting i'nt-it?

Wankers!

A Mr C says, neither of us give a monkeys about Gay jibes, football banter is just that, but these blokes (particuarly the one shouting in my face), were almost possessed by homophobia and I genuinley believe they were stuipid enough to beleive everyone from Brighton was Gay. We ignored them, but I must admit to a touch of nerves as the voices got louder as they followed us along the road for a while.

Our only savoiur was that the other lad we were with, normally noted for mouthing off without thinking, uncharacteristically kept his gob shut, and in turn probably saved us a kicking.

It's one of the problems with football being so popular, too many f*ckwits!

Doesn't this show what a lot of tosseurs our fellow countrymen are! Yeah they are all so hard and tough and keen to wave the flag of St George but most of them support teams made up of Frenchmen and other nationalities who your back-slapping Brit is keen to slag off. I'm proud to be from Brighton, the South Coast and England but I'm afraid it's time for many of our unfit would-be hard Englishmen to shed a few pounds, lay off our club, stop wetting themselves over their players who come from anywhere but the city they represent and grow up.
I also think that any prucks who start the gay chants at Withdean should be weeded (right word) out by the stewards.

It's a bigger insult to call someone gay than the RonAtkinson word. Ask any African bloke.

Being called gay is not banter. It is an insult that is intended to provoke a reaction. Perhaps some of our well-meaning but comfortably liberal fans should consider this.
London, Bristol and Manchester are full of poofs anyway. So is Paris - home of Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira.

I must say that this was the worst torrent of abuse by any fans out side the ground over being gay.

and wanting to start fights over that fact.

Takes the piss really no one in an albion shirt safe even the juniors took abuse not good.

While looking for a beer which we gave up on the local bill said that they where expecting trouble no surprise really with the inbreeds the Albion fans got a police escort to the train station what is going on.

The drive out was shit with the abuse this team really do not deserve a place in a higher divsion with fans like that.

Its the same old story all the time isnt it . . . .the fact of the matter is football attracts morons and scum like no other . . . . one has to live with it or go and do something else.

Bristol is a great place. I've had some great times down there in the past, gigs , parties, football etc.

I got called gay boy on my way out the ground too but not from the usual kids that you get at games but from some 50+ year old blokes. (difficult to take them seriously when they talk so funny).

What I was more shocked at was the racism from a group of BRIGHTON fans just before half time buying pasties. Even spouting off that Big Ron is their hero as he speaks the truth?!?!??

very sad indeed.
