Complete and extreme gash. The world's gone mad to rate that steaming pile of celluloid crud. Girlfriend and I were stunned that people were clapping at the end of 2.5hrs of our life we will never be able to reclaim.

You don't know anything about films mate.

Horses for courses. Transformers 2 got a lot of applause at the end when I went and I know you think that is the worst film ever made. The biggest and most comprehensive applause I ever witnessed was for Schindler's List.

Inglorious Basterds got a lot. STANDING OVATION for that genius film.

Absurd statement, it's called having different tastes in film. I'm sure you're a right Barry Norman when it comes down to it though, so yes, you're probably right, I bet your knowledge of cinema transcends probably everyone's on this board, if not on this planet. Apologies for throwing in my scathing two-penneth worth on the subject of what I see as an absurdly overrated film...... mate.

I have never been in a cinema when people have clapped at the end, is it that common?

In my experience it isn't overly common. Occured twice I think at the duke of yorks in the past 17 years. In that same space there's only been 3 or 4 at the odeon/marina and the only one I can specifically think of is Moulin Rouge!. There have been a few smatterings of applause at others, and at the start of a few (geeky stuff like as star wars started/harry potter, etc)

Hither (sometimes Thither)
I shall stick to watching Kristen Scott Thomas in French arthouse films from now on.

You can't beat a bit of Leaving at the minute for me.
I lowered my aim and hit something shit right on the button on Monday night with The Rebound, "starring" that empty space Zeta Jones. Now that was less tasty than a turd ciabatta. Give that one a miss, people of the world.

so nothing decent on then ?

My newspaper says Beautiful Kate and Down Terrace, a British gangster film that actually works, are alright. Down Terrace is set in Brighton too, innit. Gets 4-stars in my rag for its subtlety rather than outbursts of pure violence, although the latter does come into it.
