I hate religion espcially thos Christain's.....WHOOPS i can go to jail for saying that :shootself

Source BBC News Online:

Inciting religious hatred is to be made a criminal offence under plans unveiled by Home Secretary David Blunkett.
The government failed to get laws introducing the offence passed by Parliament in the wake of the US terror attacks in 2001.

In a speech in London, Mr Blunkett revived the proposals.

He said he was returning to the plans as there was a need to stop people being abused or targeted just because they held a particular religious faith.

OK i'm sorry but this is balls, what about Preachers and that arch bishop bloke who keep going on about how you "should" join the church and "should" be religious.....surely that falls into the category of targeting those who dont want to be therefore being a criminal offence in its own! You get all those Preacher types in the US and now on Sky we even have our very own GodTV channel bollocks!

At punk gigs i'm used to but also fed up with Straight Edge wankers (they dont eat meat, smoke drugs or drink alcohol) yet they preach to me and some bands on stage preach to the crowd about how we should'nt smoke this or should'nt drink that.....same with Relgious groups, claiming we HAVE to follow "their" religion or we'll end up in Hell - well to me that falls under Blunketts pathetic new scheme and should be deemed a criminal offence.

Blunkett...its all well and good defending religious groups....but wheres the defending of the people who make their own mind up and dont wanna be prached? eh? eh? EH?

Religion costs YOU money! The church of england is the biggest earner busniess wise in the whole of the country.

Yet they always say they're skint?

Work that one out!

:glare:

Precisely

"Give us £5 and earn you're place in heaven, if not then its hell for you!"

RUBBISH! That to me falls into the 'targeting Atheists' category and should be a criminal offence as they are attacking you're religious stance.

Do nthey not know what's going on in the world, or are they just being blatantly ignorant and burying thier heads in the sand?

True

The vicars have to live somewhere and get a house as part of their job. They get paid about £12K as they get a house as well or it may have gone up now but I know the house is taken into consideration as part of their wages.

I wonder if he is going to sort out the differences between Muslims and Sikhs?

How is saying

"christianity sucks"

Incitement to religious hatred? Don't be stupid.

However, saying

"All christians are stupid and we should rise up and kill them" certainly is.

Is the difference too difficult to comprehend?

New Labour has to been seen to be doing something about the likes of Abu "Hook-handed cleric" Hamza and his Finsbury Park Mosque entourage, hence this latest initiative.

Regarding religion, I think that most people who live their lives by a code of beliefs or religious teachings are, by and large, good people in society.

to be persecuted for targetting someone because they hold a particular faith is a nonsense. it is a choice. if you wish to stop the targetting simply dissassociate yourself from it. this is why this argument is different from persecution based on skin colour. being abused because you are black is totally unfair. you have not chosen to be black, you have to live with it. yet with religions, the case is different. no-one is forced to believe in a certain thing. some may argue that you are in the case of some religions yet this serves only to identify the illiberal nature of the faith. you should be proud of what you believe in. if you are, challenges to this belief should not bother you. if you are bothered you are clearly believing for the wrong reasons and should stop.

What about a code of belief to be a nice person.

The good are good, the bad are bad. Doesn't matter who or what you believe.
