Leg out of the bed
He had the poorest first touch of any professional footballer I've ever seen

Scored 8 goals, of which 4 were pens, in 22 starts, plus seven sub appearances. That's better than any of our unproven benchwarmers. If he was here again, I reckon he'd notch a fair few, and NOT miss penalties

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
He was good with us until he went on international duty against China in the March and then faded badly. Last season he couldn't score against us either for Birmingham or Bristol City although he did manage this season with Millwall.

how odd that people who call him the poor man's Murray, by implication suggesring that Murray was the real deal and that we miss his presence, go on to say that we dont need Wood snd should wait and see how Hoskins fares.

Whilst agreeing that Hoskins could be a real player for us and hekp to energise our forward options he still lacks height which was Murray's main plus point in our attack.

With only a few days to go to the end of the loan window I would grab Wood if available on the basis that an option (of height) is better than no option

Edit: extended his loan at Millwall until January.................... ah well

He was solid for us, scored 1 in every 3 games, linked well with Murray, had a good touch for a big man as they say and a burst of pace. I would definitely go after him.

He was only 18 when we had him and has obviously improved, scoring regularly in the Champ for Brum & Millwall( Bristol not so much).

Not sure why people seem to think he was crap. Would give us a different dimension and he can be the battering ram upfront for CMS to work off.

That is fine if Gus thinks that he will fit into the style of play that he wants us to follow, which I am not certain about, as he could have paid the extra wages and kept Murray if that was the case.

I have to say that I am fully in the 'Hoskins is the answer' camp. He seems to have a nice touch and control and knows where the goal is. Hold up players don't have to be massive cloggers as long as they have the ability.

Thought he was okay, but 8 goals in 29 games (including penalties) was hardly tremendous.

Tbh I think it is hard to score in our team, the way we set up, and Woods showed he could do it. Vokes and Paynter came here last season as proven scorers, and got 3 between them. Woods would give a fair return I reckon, given his all round game

The Murray thing was personal and nothing to do with 'style of play'. Remember the Calderon & Saints business? Gus can be stubborn.

I always felt Wood was quite lazy, good player no doubt, and probably could do a job. I just don't think he'd be the player to take us up, and I'd like to see how Hoskins fares for the time being as well.
