Wilder might galvanise them for a few weeks. He didn't set the world alight at Middlesbrough and wasn't at Vicarage Road for very long, since leaving Bramall Lane.

Heckingbottom should get a Championship gig fairly quickly, if he wants to jump straight back in.

In the summer Wilder came in my local with ex Albion dreadlocked leg-end Peter Smith who is his agent.

I was sat at the bar and clocked them both and turned to Peter and said something along the lines of “you’re Peter Smith! You were one of the few good reasons to watch the Albion back in those days”. We ended up having a decent knatter for a bit until Wilder chips in with “cmon Smithy…..you are going to be dining out for weeks that someone has recognised you”.
