Could Chris Mcphee have a part to play this season as a target man...apparently mghee rates him and has been working closely in training with him on finishing and building up his upper body strengh he has put 5 pounds on in weight...mcghee also states mcphee is a confidence player with good potential to be a good all round striker....

im willing to go with mcghee's assesment just hope fickle ones among us will support him and give him a go if selected rather then slate him and moan as that will do the lads confidence no good at all

Mcphee started very promisingly last season and was a little unlucky to be pushed aside later on in the season. Hopefully, he has coped well with this disappointment and comes back with a bang when he gets his chance.

i think he is a good player and will improve under mcghee. i thought he was treated a little harshly last year when he didnt play from about new years onwards. he was our 2nd top goalscorer

Only 4 league goals in 29 (12 as sub) appearances last season, i think division 2 or league 1 or whatever it is now is probably the highest he is capable of playing but here's hoping he can prove me wrong.

he looked great at times last season - especially between september and christmas when he got his chance with henderson gone. i even went to the extreme of having his name on the back of my yellow shirt

i think he will have a part to play this season

i was fairly impressed last season with him. works hard and scored 9 goals in not very many games. and we were top of the league with him playing under coppell. i think he was treated harshly under mcghee to be dropped. but hopefully he will come back with the extra drive and hunger.

Looked Ok at best I thought. Very lethargic and laid-back style, not pacey or sharp to react. I recall comments about his concentration levels during longer run-outs too. Aerial presence good though and wins plenty of balls. Maybe a chance to progress under MM just like Virgo. Good luck to the lad, like to see him make it as he is another local boy.

He's got a part to play, but he needs to keep making progress. Face it before last years preseason it was Chris who? Loads of goals in friendlies and he forced his way into contention. Injury has hampered him this year and I wonder if he can make up the lost ground.
I think he may benefit from a loan somewhere to get his confidence up.

McGhee obviously didn't rate him last season, as he got Big Chris and Trevor Benjamin on loan to allow McPhee to 'step back and learn' from them...

One of the most irritating things about his game play is his absolute lack of a first touch.

He will always work hard and give 100% but I don't think he's got the quality for Div 1. He reminds me of Simon Funnell in some ways (not quite as bad) when he played up front with Kurt Nogan. Nogan said he enjoyed playing with him because he did so much running and I think the same is true of McPhee. At this level though, you need more than that.

Still, I hope he proves me very wrong.

A few pairs of rose tinted spectacles on here today. Undoubtedly a hard working honest pro, unfortunately nothing near appraoching a natural goalscorer. Not convinced he can make it at this level, but learning the offside rule would certainly help his cause!
