I've never quite understood the hysteria with Newcastle United. They seem to pick up a lot of plastic fans, but I am unsure as to the reason behind this?

You're a cultured man, mr Barrel of Fun, so I'll assume you've been to Newcastle? The reason for my plastic support is that I wanted to spend a weekend up there, and take in a game at the magnificent St James' Park. I always used to like Alan Shearer, aswell.

Having reread my post again, I can understand the confusion. I can't see any logical reason why Newcastle would loan him out though, and certainly not to a club in league 1. It would be a coup of a signing, but I'd still rather not have him here.

I'm not sure if they have a striker we'd really be interested though? I'm not sure how much McGoldrick played for them actually, he might be worth a look. But we'd not have much chance getting Blackstock or Tyson, and they would be the only 2 I would want from their list of strikers.

Not sure, i cant believe they paid £1m which was the figure branded about when he moved, utterly ridiculous money. But it was more that I couldnt see him being sold as of the loss they'd surely make, so would be more inclined to send him out on loan where he could impress.
As for Forest, Tyson is possibly unrealistic, but he only scored twice last season so i cant see too many clubs in the Championship scrambling for him. The likes of Mcgoldrick, Garner could do a job.

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the fee was closer to £2million!

I think McGoldrick would do more than "a job"! I think he would actually be an astute signing, but I'd rather we bought someone who has been regularly scoring goals over the last couple of years. Has Adam Le Fondre left Rotherham yet?

No idea. They're the team I've supported all my life so I couldn't say. The most likely reason is "The Entertainers" team from the mid-90s: all that gung-ho suicidal attacking football, 7 strikers on the pitch, Kevin Keegan's hair etc. etc. etc.

People remember that era fondly I think.

Jesus!! £2m for a player of Bests quality, highlights the ridiculously inflated prices working their way down the leagues.
As for Le Fondre, he's still at Rotherham, but supposedly had deals with Derby and Leicester agreed although they were over a month ago and nothings happened since. Someone like Simeone Jackson would have been great, but even he has moved up to the championship!
