Another club that went with the previous player sentiments in appointing a manager instead of going for the applicant with the best credentials last year. That's what you get when you have a chairman who spends hardly any time at the club

48th now Bowyer has gone at Blackburn.

What's that: eight gone from the Championship already? Crazy, a third of all managers dismissed with the season just a third of the way through. Lennon must be on thin ice too (Freedman has probably been saved by the win over Derby ... for a while, at least)

Tony Humes sacked by Colchester. He's been there for 14 months, so Hughton up another place. What's the current score?

So the median for a manager in his job is now 11 months.

Why do clubs and managers go through this charade of fixed term contract of employment? Managers are ten a penny, most seem to get a contract for the season of appointment plus two on top of that, but are sacked in a year. Martin O'Neill had the right idea - a rolling contract on a season by season basis.
