Isn't a chittery bite some milk based snack that is given to warm hikers and scouts etc up in cold environments?

Here ya go...

Whats a Chitterybite!

A Chitterybite is defined as any form of sweet tasting nourishment that comes to hand when towelling down after a brisk, sharp engaging swim off the coast of Scotland in summer or winter. There's nothing like having a good chitter and a wee munch!

A chitterybite is very similar to the tasty looking teacake on the left made by a very famous biscuit manufacturer in Uddingston Glasgow. The humble Tunnock's Teacake is recommended by this band as the best type of Chitterybite to consume if the need for nourishment arises in an outdoor situation on the west of Scotland when wet. Other recommended morsels include the Tunnocks Caramel Wafer, The Tunnock's Snowball, The Tunnocks Caramel Log and any Cadbury's Mini Rolls you can get to hand

According to Google it's either a Scottish Band or a small insect that bites your legs.
I hope this helps.
