I hope he is fit for the start of the season. In my opinion, the only player who looked of the standard required for Div1 from the start last time (others like Cullip etc took time to adjust, but looked comfortable in the second half of the season).

Chippy is in my opinion the best and most consistent midfielder at the club - lets hope he is fit.

Oatway will play for sure, wether we like it or not.

Midfield will read as follows unless we sign players

Jones Ried Oatway Hart

I think it's already been said that Chippy won't be fit to start the season (gulp). It's going to be a tough old ride without our best forward and best midfielder.

No criticism of Oatway or anyone else, I just think Chippy is the best by a wide margin.

Spot on, the only difference could be if McGhee pushes one of the defenders into the right of midfield instead of OGH, who hasn't set the world alight in pre-season. But I would stick with these tried and tested players, when you're in a tight spot, you need experience.

No Chippy or Knight, Roberts struggling with back again for Reading... Eeeeekkkk

Never mind, lets just attack the bastards and win 6-0 :D

Kuipers

Virgo Cullip Butters Jones

At least keep the defence that won us promotion together as a unit. We need some coherence to overcome the disruption elsewhere in the team.

Trigger, much I admire your Kevin Keegan-style bravado, defence (and not attack) really is the best means of defence.

Mcghee has been experimenting with playing harding & hinsh at midfield/wingbacks. It could be a return to 3 at the back that was successful for us last time in div 1

True, but the competition is hardly up to much......

We haven't had a decent CONSISTANT midfielder since Jeff Minton (and if anyone mentions Nathan Jones, I'll go mad :nono: )

Rubbish. Chippy is excellent in midfield, rarely has a poor game.

Zamora was an excellent forward

Cullip is an excellent defender

Chippy an excellent midfielder? No, I don't think so
