It means that a helicopter has taken off from Shoreham airport and its flight path was over your house.

Saw one flying WEST from WEST STREET about half an hour ago.

The RAF/Army use the south facing ridge of the South Downs to practice their low level flying.


A few weeks ago was cycling across the top of that ridge towards Goodwood racecourse.
A Chinook was flying parallel and just below me, above Halnaker, less than 1/4 mile away.
As I approached the 7 furlong pole, the Chinook had looped round and appeared like something out of a film directly above me, just above tree line.
Once I'd stopped poohing myself it was absolutely thrilling.
