Watched this British film staring Michael Caine and Clive Owen over the weekend, set 27 years in the future. It was ok, conclusion was a bit messy.

However, the most worry aspect for me was the bit when they're fleeing London to Bexhill. Could have sworn they took the A23/A27. And yet there was still no sign of Falmer?

Watched this British film staring Michael Caine and Clive Owen over the weekend, set 27 years in the future. It was ok, conclusion was a bit messy.

However, the most worry aspect for me was the bit when they're fleeing London to Bexhill. Could have sworn they took the A23/A27. And yet there was still no sign of Falmer?

The stadium at Falmer was raized to the ground during the quelling of the infamous Duck Pond Riots of 2019, which were sparked by an errant milkmans note cancelling the yoghurt being blown onto the lawn of Mr Scroteworthy at number 5. A Rapid Reaction Force was immediately dispatched, but when they were overpowered by an aggressive leaflet campaign by the Falmer residents, the entire site was napalmed, wiping out three square miles of village, road, field and stadium.

The replacement stadium is moored three miles out at sea, tethered to the Brighton Pier (the Lucozade Zone, as its known in 2021).

Its all on Wikipedia in about thirteen years.

Or the bit in Quadrophenia whre Jimmy yells out 'that is Brighton' when we're actually looking at Eastbourne.

Much of it was flmed in Woolwich town centre, they had to shut off a few roads through the town centre, build bonfires and clad all the buildings in crap to make them look war-torn. Might as well have left them alone if you ask me.

Was fascinating watching them film it, though

They've been taking liberties with film locations for years.

As a child, I remember watching 'Tiger Bay', which had a chase on foot that started in Bristol, crossed Newport Transporter Bridge and ended up in Cardiff's dockland.

This is all from the dark recesses of my memory so apologies if I've got it completely wrong but Pinky was chased from the racecourse and somehow the chase (on foot) carried on all the way to Brighton seafront near the Grand.

Now, I'm not saying it's impossible but you'd have to be blooming fit to run that far at chase speed.

Only if you go directly to the Grand in a kind of sideways downhill direction. Otherwise it's a long long run down to the hospital and then along Edward Street or Madeira Drive across Kemp Town and along the seafront. Just reckon a few heavies would have given up chasing Pinky by the time he left the racecourse.

I'm gonna check tonight what the route was.

The decision has been referred to Euan Blair who is the environment secretary for Labour 2034 after an appeal by the " Protect Ladybirds In Their Natural Environment society did a study showing 2 350 000 Ladybirds rely on the Falmer field for food and a breeding ground "

A decision in expected in the next 18 months.
