Loved the Hey Jude singalong at the end; it must have been great to have been there.
To the NSCers that were there, did you give a na na na na Brighton during the chorus?
It was quality at Southampton!

I can't say I did, to be honest I was too busy enjoying the fact that I was lucky enough to be about 10 yards away from one of the Beatles to start singing a song usually directed at the likes of Adam El-Abd.

Surprisingly tricky to compare the two songs!

Congrats to Gary Barlow, a nice balance of variety for this excellent idea

Take That are always good to watch imo, Leona Lewis whilst having a great voice always looks uncomfortable to me and has as much charisma and stage presence as a wet lettuce.

Annie Lennox voice seems to have dropped an octave

Enjoyed Back in the USSR and Get Back, wish he'd finished with Band on the Run as I have never seen the attraction of Hey Jude. It's just a really repetitive dirge bettered only by those other McCartney songs Long and Winding Road and Mull of Kintyre. Depressing to listen to imo.

US you need to be f***ing shot for that comment. Without Sir Paul there would be no music like there is today i think you'll find. He is the greatest living songwriter and Gary is nothing compared to him. He has written so many hit songs it is uncountable. It was his idea that brought about the most groundbreaking album ever to have been made, he wrote most of those songs. His song Yesterday is the most covered song ever. He has also sold around a billion records with the Beatles. The facts speak for themselves. You waste of spaces need to get a life away from wanking over Gary and Mark and get into the real world. Mccartney will never be a has been, he is one of the finest things that has ever come out of England, and no one will ever be like him again.

All I said was Rule the World is better than Hey Jude and IT IS. Hey Jude starts ok but after 2 and a half minutes Paul runs out of ideas and then sings a durge of a chorus for another 5 minutes when you just want to get a gun and say " for fucks sake Paul, just shut the f*** up will you ? ".

With the exception of Shirley Bassey, they are all dull as ditchwater. Paul McCarteny - What a jizzpot. The Beatles weren't even that good, they just came along at the right time.

I would agree withg US that Rule the World is a better song but I objected TCB view of get Paul off and Gary back on as GB has achieved only a small amount in comparison and will he stay at the top as long, it remains to be seen but I doubt it.

Muse sounding very much like Radiohead, very depressing 5.8

They haven't sounded anything like them since before Origin of Symmetry. And just "depressing"? Very ignorant comment.

How the f*** is Paul a wanker? Mate, him and John Lennon changed the world. OPEN YOUR f***ing EYES!
Becuase of luck not talent. They were teh first of their kind. Shove Boyzone into that slot and they wouldn't do bad.

I might be an old git (well, 46) but Annie Lennox and Shirley Bassey absolutely wiped the floor with Cole and Lewis in terms of quality of voice and delivery of song. Bassey might be the moodiest diva of all time but she can still bloody SING! And Lennox advanced Dyke causes everwhere by the most genuine emotional performance of the night. I defy anyone to disagree with this and confess that quality of puppies and non proximity of bus passes were the only reasons to prefer the youngsters.
