Childhood Toy you always wanted but never got?

Everyone has something they always wanted but parents thought it was silly or a waste of money.

Mine is easy...a Mr Frosty "But youl run out flavouring and then youl never play with it again...its only for the summer"

I was promised a bike for passing my 11+ (which I did) and never got it.


When I was quite a bit younger I was given a doll by my Dad returning from a long overseas voyage with the Navy but saw another child with a musical teddy bear. I threw my doll on the floor and said I wanted a bear like hers. (I think I got a clout for that )

I always wanted a 'Street Wolf' Bike that had a box on which mae noises when you pressed the buttons..my best mate had one and I used to go round his house purely to play on his.

Too many to mention being a poor boy bought up in a single-parent family on a council estate.

But if I had to pick one it would be a 'Johnny Seven' (I think it was called) It was a gun that came apart into seven different guns. I think. I never got closer to one than the toy shop window.

It's a 1960s childhood thing. Those born after about 1963 can skip this post.

I never got scaelextrics when I was akid so I recently went out and bought a top set, played with it for a while and now it is sat in the loft and not used. Still it'll be there for when I have kids. so they get the enjoyment when they are young.

My landlord at uni has recenlty installed a scaletrix set in the spare room that we have turned into a second lounge set aside for play station etc. How superb is that?!

I had hungry hippos though It was a hand me down, and I also got Mousetrap one xmas.

But no matter what birthay or christmas it was I never got a mr frosty shaped present....

I always wanted disco roller skates....with the sparkly glitter in the wheels!! and rainbow stitches down the sides...

But I got a second hand pair of pink ones (yuck! I'm not a girlie girl!) which had daft worn bearings in the wheels and would send me hurtling in the direction of on-coming vehicles and randomly off the footpath - Mum reckoned I couldn't roller skate but it was the equipment I blame....
