The much troubled club have been given seven days to resolve the ongoing situation. Explusion now looks a real possibility, the club are up for sale for £1 but up have to take on the debt. Remember seeing a certain Mr Zamora score four (?) there on his debut.

Wouldn't former player and manager Ian Rush be rich enough to buy the club and pay off its debt?

Conference general manager issues statement detailing Chester City FCs seven-day suspension from Blue Square Premier - Chester Chronicle
Conference general manager issues statement detailing Chester City FC’s seven-day suspension from Blue Square Premier
Feb 11 2010 by Mark Dowling, Chester Chronicle

THE Football Conference has issued a statement following crisis-hit Chester City’s seven-day suspension from the Blue Square Premier on Thursday afternoon.

Dennis Strudwick, general manager of the Football Conference, has stated:

“The Board of the Football Conference has given exhaustive and thorough consideration to matters at Chester City FC following the Club’s failure to fulfil its fixture at Forest Green Rovers FC on Tuesday, February 9, 2010.

“During consideration on events ensuing at the club, the Cheshire Constabulary has withdrawn special police services due to be provided at the Club’s match at the Deva Stadium on Sunday, February 14 against Wrexham FC, for failing to pay policing costs by a due time.

“As a consequence, the Cheshire West & Chester Borough Council has issued a Prohibition Order on the Club preventing the admission of spectators into the ground, as the inadequate number of police officers will involve a risk so serious that admission ought to be prohibited, until appropriate steps have been taken.

“Chester City FC, therefore, is unable to fulfil its engagement on Sunday.

“Pursuant to other matters currently existing at the club, the Football Conference has served charges for breaches of five separate competition rules upon the club which include the failure to fulfil the above two fixtures.

“The club has been given seven days to respond to the charges, and/or request a personal hearing. The charges, and a personal hearing if requested, will be considered on Thursday, February 18, 2010.

“Meanwhile, the club’s fixtures have been suspended; resulting in Chester City’s home fixture on Wednesday, February 17, against Kidderminster Harriers being postponed.

“As these matters are now subjudice, no further statement will be issued until after the meeting of February 18.”

Came from an era that didn't pay Footballers like live savers?

He was transferred for £3 million to Juve and would have had a healthy cut of some serious money in those days, I am sure he has some spare cash.

Someone pointed out on another thread that the fans actually want them to go under because they can then start again without the current ownership. Therefore an interesting situation. Doesn't look good either way though.

Chester City: CFU says fans’ boycott is “clearly taking effect”
Feb 11 2010 by Mark Dowling, Chester Chronicle

THE lowest ever number of Chester City fans for a home match proved no surprise for City Fans United.

The supporters group saw its official boycott come into effect on Saturday, with fewer than 400 Chester fans attending the Deva Stadium.

A CFU statement read: “The boycott fans called for is clearly taking effect.

“This was further evidence the fans have clearly had enough of the current regime, and are now – hard as it may be – doing the right thing, in staying away from the stadium and believing in their own principles.

“Chester City FC 2004 Ltd is witnessing the fans’ own beliefs the future is better without the Vaughan family at the helm.

“It takes a high amount of self-belief to stay away from the Deva Stadium, but fans will not be dictated to, or have false promises delivered by the officials of the club.”

CFU’s first social evening of the year, ‘A Night at the Races’, takes place at the Home Guard Club on Saturday, February 20. Tickets are available from CFU on 07925 519418 or www.chestercitytv.co.uk - CCTV Home

If they get that few fans how can there be a policing issue? You get more than 400 people in a cinema and don't have policing costs! Surely just a couple to stand in between opposing supporters and you're set?

it wouldnt hurt one of the premiership clubs to buy them out and have the club as a nursery/feeder club, as they do in spain, i also think all clubs should pay a set ammount each season to help genuine clubs who fall into trouble, no one likes to see a club go under, no matter who they are

I've been thinking something along these lines for ages. Especially the vast wealth in the prem, it should be filtered down to the smaller clubs. For god sake lets bring a more socialist system into football.

debts of 700k would be a toss in the ocean for premiership clubs, that with the right guidance n mangement would reap rewards in future years, its a no risk no brainer if you ask me
