Chelski - Will they do it this year??

Following yesterdays signings at Chelski of Drogba and Tiago do you think Chelski have bought their way to the title this year. It doesn't look like any more signings will take place as Maurinho made today his deadline.

With Drogba, Tiago, Ferraira, Robben, Cech and Kezman all arriving at Stamford Bridge they are surely in with a shout of the title this year but can the pip Arsenal to the post?

Personally I think and hope not. Arsenal will be too good again and have bought wisely in Van Persie who is a quality player. Their consistency and ability to tear teams apart will carry them home. I can see Chelsea heads dropping during mid winter away at Nowich and Bolton and a few points dropped with them.

United will be there and thereabouts again but simply haven't got what it takes anymore. The team that was once great has lost players and hasn't replaced in kind (Beckham, Sheringham). Ferdinand coming back will be a boost but Giggs, Scholes, Keane etc are a year older now and at their age, a year slower.

Two horse race I reckon.

Chelsea wont do it, again they havent bought well enough in the key areas, upfront they are still short in my opinion.

Looks like they will Start with Drogba and Kezzman.

2 unknown quantities in the premiership, Drogba has only had one good season in his whole career as far as i can see, and that in the french league, hardly tried and trusted.....one season wonder ?.....who knows.

And Kezzman again, untried in the Premiership, scored bucket loads in Holland but nothing compared to the premiership, both showed an eye for goal in the Uefa Cup, but the week in week out slog against hard physical defenders is something they wont be used to.

For me my Money remains firmly on Arsenal, with or without Viera, and i do believe that Utd will be far stronger this year, remember they were top when Ferdinand was banned.
And that Utd always bounce back after a poor season.

the fact is you cant buy team spirt. the players at chelsea will always be weary that if they dont have a wonderful season then there gone.

amazingly crespo the 'flop' had a quite good goal scoring average of nearly 1 in 2 games. i think he got 10 in around 24 appearances. that isnt terrible, but they still shipped him off.

arsenal keep the same team every year and maybe add two players. in this case a gk and van persie( 'new bergkamp' )

it sounds like they are evn giving jeffers another opportunity this season which cant help boost confidence.

man utd as ever made many signings but they still keep the backbone of there team most years. the talents of scholes keane giggs ronaldo are bound to shine through so thats why i feel they will pip chelsea this year...unless they make a few stupid mistakes as against wolves etc

chelsea (too many midfielders and the talents of cole etc are being wasted)
newcastle (kluivert? who knows. good english side though)
liverpool( cisse and owen could be leathel this season..just poor defence)

I sincerely hope they don't win anything. If there's one thing worse than chequebook journalism it's chequebook football. Still as I said when we were debating Middlesborough last week, just signing a load of good players doesn't mean you automatically get a good team. I know Morinho is ten times the manager that Steve McClaren is, but he's also under at least ten times as much pressure - after all he has to win the Premiership or get to the Champions' League final otherwise the club will be deemed to have gone backwards.

Thankfully you can lavish squllions of quid on a team and just end up with a too-large group of egotistical prima-donnas who will win nothing. For football's sake I hope that happens to Chelsea.

Arsenal should be favourites, but if they lose Vieira I could see them finishing third.

This season Man Utd have Ferdinand available for the whole season, plus Heinze. Alan Smith is another handy signing, so they will be stronger.

Overall, I expect this to be an extremely close three-way tussle right down to the wire, but I think Chelsea will win because Mourinho, unlike Ranieri, will not take any shit from anybody. This means he will not feel compelled to rotate players to keep everybody happy, and having a settled side could be the difference.

Do what? Go bankrupt at last? Let's hope Mr Abramovich tires of his plaything quickly and does us all a favour.

Frankly I'm bored of the Premiership. It'll be a two or three horse race for the title, about 10 mediocre teams that all beat each other, several more that will scrap for the relegation places, and Palace who'll lose every week

To be honest I wouldn't mind if Chelsea did win it, at least it would break the monotony of Man U or Arsenal winning every bloody year.

I think Chelsea will win it this year. In Robben and Duff they have two players capable of getting past any defence. I don't know anything about Kezman but Drogba looks perfectly suited to the Premiershite. They have solid central midfielders like Makelele and Lampard and strong competion for every place. Add in two top class goalkeepers and a very good manager.
All in all a combination the Arse and MUPLC will find hard to match.
