Birch quits Chelsea
Trevor Birch has resigned from his position as Chelsea chief executive.
Birch was offered a "senior executive role" at Stamford Bridge after Peter Kenyon's arrival from Manchester United, but he declined to stay.
Kenyon left Old Trafford on Monday to join Chelsea and oversee operations under new owner Roman Abramovich.
Birch had been at the club since March 2002 and played a key role in manager Claudio Ranieri's £110m spending spree.
