Chelsea has confirmed that a bid for Manchester City’s Shaun Wright-Phillips has been made, and that the signing of 20 year old midfielder Lassana Diarra has been completed.

In response to Manchester City’s statement about a bid, Chelsea has said: “Chelsea can confirm that an offer has been made to Manchester City for the transfer of Shaun Wright-Phillips. The terms of that offer are confidential.”

Diarra is a holding midfielder in the Claude Makelele mould — he looks remarkably like Makelele — and joins from Le Havre after training with the team for the last week and impressing José Mourinho.

He will travel to Benfica with the team this weekend but is unlikely to be cleared to play, and is likely to travel to the USA next week when he could get his chance.

I'm guessing if he trained with them last week he din't play against us?
