Yes, it had the biggest capacity for a league ground for many years.

The 1st time I was there, and it was a fairly small crowd, i walked asfar up that terrace as you could go. There were still more steps fenced off as 'unsafe'.

It was much the same behind one goal, yet they had, by then, sold off part of the area and flats were there. The fully opened ground must have been massive.

If only grounds were still like that. Lol.....

FG, Hiney...how many you reckon you could squeeze in the North Bank at Wolves..when it was terracing?

Yes, the Valley had that silly little stand (as in the pic) then one covered end. The rest was plain, open, terracing.

Looks a tidy ground now though. Also, as it's in a dip, you can't see the stadium from far away.

Villa's Holte End had the biggest capacity of a kop behind a goal.

Another big 'end'

Record attendance 61,315 in 1939

So you'd have to think that you could have crammed ALOT in there.

Apparently we had 15,000 in there for UEFA Cup Final - but i'm not sure how crammed that was, but if the record is 61, 315..i would think it'd be at least a quater.

Foooking hell.
