I admit that I have knocked Charlie from time to time but today he played well on the whole. One swallow, however, doesn't make a summer and I'd like to see many more similar performances before I rate him as a Div 2 player. But to give praise where it is due, he did us proud today.

:)

I like Charlie for his attitude and I am sure that is the reason he was picked as skipper for yesterdays game.

Sometimes ability with the ball is not the only attribute to benefit the team. If there is a personality who commands the other player's respect than that is the right person to make captain.

Football ability wise he makes a good squad member especially in the 2nd division.

He may be a top bloke.
He may be 100% Albion.
He may try 100%.

But...

What job would you want him to do?
Control the midfield?
Hardman?
Playmaker?

He's none of them in all honesty.

He still gives the ball away too much.

However, I would keep him in the squad/bench as he obviously is good for team spirit, and use him as a sub / LDV cup games etc.

My opinion of him hasn't changed one bit.

Excellent player, excellent character and leader to have around the place, and just the sort of player I like to have in the midfield.

... but he isn't good enough for Div 1! Surely that opinion doesn't make me a "Charlie-hater" does it. I love the guy, but I also think he was out of his depth last season.
