No no no no no! Don't buy this! It might be called Championship Manager but it isn't - CM is now called Football Manager.

CM5 is a new, almost certainly inferior, game.

I knew there were licensing problems or whatever, and never quite caught what the final outcome is.

Shame then that they can market an inferior brand under the classic name that has deservedly built up a good reputation.

Eidos have kept the rights to the name Championship Manager but the next game in the series will have a new devlopment team and brand new code and be a completely different game.

Si Games have kept the code and will be joining with Sega to release Football Manager which will be the real Championship Manager 5 in everything but name.

Almost certainly the SI/Sega one as they have all the experience of making the game, and the whole of the database that they will have built up. Eidos are going to have to collect all the player data from scratch.

Total Club Manager 2004 is superb .... they seem to add a new dimension to it every year since the original EA Sports Premiership Manager
I currently have a Brighton team of

Ben Roberts
Danny Cullip
Adam Virgo
John Terry
Wayne Bridge
Kleberson
Danny Harding
Chippy Carpenter
Leon Knight
Bobby Zamora
Michael Owen

with Paul Scholes, Nicolas Anelka and Raul on the subs bench

We just won the Euro Champions Cup in 2006!

Here and There
Actually Football Manager will not be Champ Manager 5, it'll be Champ Manager 3 Season 2004/2005. The main programmers left half way through the development of Champ Manager 4 as they didn't like the new interface or the direction the project was going in. With this the developers left with an idea to take the original programming of CM3, buy the Football Manager name (which was well known in the late eighties and early nineties) and use the CM3 template for this 'new' management game.

I can't wait for FM to come out!

I don't think Muzzman is correct but stand to be corrected!

Football Manager 05 is Championship Manager.
Championship Manager is a new game by Eidos.

Football Manager is just the new CM4 03/04. So new features and updated.
