The batting has certainly been below par generally but I'd have thought that addressing some of the odd team selection and strategic captaincy decisions seen this summer may also improve our performance in the CC (Warks at Hove and Worcs at Horsham spring to mind as eg's).

Div 2 is looking interesting, Northants won in no time but it looks like they could pay for missing the last 2 batting points. Surrey and Middlesex look certain to claim easy victories and crucially Surrey have enough bonus point to pip Northants.

More importantly Hampshire need maximum batting points and a victory to stand any chance, it looks like Div 2 cricket for them next season

64 before the start of play according to the BBC. THese 3 mean that he is equal with Richardson (who was the leading Div 1 wicket taker) though not sure how many wickets he's taken in this round of matches
