You know, I'd never noticed that Maskell drags the keeper into the net just before Storer's winner. Could, nay should, have been a foul. Just how different things could have been.

Would make a lovely terrace anthem:

If you've played all the games they've played,
You played them yesterday,
Just walk away, walk away
If you've been , where they wanna go, seen all they've got to show,

And now you must believe me, you never lose your dream,
So now you must believe me, we never lose our dreams

Not at the breakneck speed we'd sing it, it wouldn't!

As a non smoker - The smell of fags ! the smell of fags in the open air ALWAYS reminds me of the Goldstone. Remember the half time scores being put up on those little alphabetical signs running along pitchside and walking in the road blocking the traffic after the game at the top of Sackville Road.

Yes, this. The smell of tobacco, old cigs or pipe smoke.

Done all my growing up on those terraces, being a little Herbert with your mates, would be different now, but I look back with very found memories.

I think Sunday was the first time I have celebrated like such a mad man since the Goldstone days. :bhasign:

Cracking band and cracking song.

In answer to the question, yes, I have it on video either here or at my parents place. We have 2 tapes choc-full of all the stuff from the 'war years' culminating in plenty of footage from the Hereford game!

Albion & England forever.

Be great if you could post it somehow. I still remember vaguely some old lady may have been in a wheel chair even talking about how sad she was. Quite emotional I seem to remember. On another aside, saw cast at the centre and remember it being half full and the sound being awful.

Brilliant vid.. Brings back memories... :)

Question: Anyone know what the significance of the Eintracht Frankfurt flag is?
They are my local team now.

That was the Fans Utd day against Hartlepool on 8th February 1997

Fans from LOADS of teams turned up, not just British teams either.

Haven't seen that before, very nostalgic, particularly like the bit of Wardy magic.

I miss the Goldstone. I remember them playing Tiffany, 'I think we're alone now' practically every match over the tannoy for about three seasons from 1988 - 1991.

How can the same band write something so lovely and something as terrible as Sandstorm...

I seem to remember Band of Gold being played quite often at The Goldstone.

"Now that you're gone
All that's left is a band of gold
All that's left of the dream I hold
Is a band of gold
And the memories of what love could be
If you are still here with me..."
