Caskey to follow his old man to Charlton?

If you were Caskey, would you want to move to every club your dad plays for? It's hard enough for sons of players to make a name for themselves without adding fuel to the fire of only playing for clubs that your dad plays for.

And let's not forget that we are talking about a stepfather/ stepson relationship and Jake's actual father will have advised his son on his future as well.

Ambition for one, but mainly much better training facilities elsewhere. Pretty sure Charlton have their own facilities rather than having to share with a University.
The sooner we get our own dedicated training ground the better we will.

Training ground was sold as part of cost cuts and now they rent from the local council.

In any case, Forster isn't staying at Charlton. Trust me.

I stand corrected then, still having played on the Uni pitches would imagine its better than what we have

I wouldnt expect Forster to stay at Charlton and think that hewill be looking at coaching/managing and as I suggested on another thread a team like Barnet would be ideal for him as player manager as he would start at the bottom, still be able to play regularly and not have to uproot the family. So if Jake goes to Charlton I dont think it will be because his step father is there.

Good thinking. Lets get rid of all our junior teams and rely on buying players all the time.

mmmm do not think I said get rid of the youth system - I said that lots of players that show potential do not develop Jake Robinson being a prime example.

I can think of no other reason for him to be on the bench, even though it does say he has signed youth terms, which would be great if true.

Problem is the albion offer these lads contracts and then don't help them develop !

Just ask the lads over the last few years what the club has done to help them develop as young footballers !

Most well run clubs have a development coach , too late here but maybe next year but Caskey may be gone by then !

But maybe they just are not good enough ? If it was just our sytem failing they would be picked up by other clubs and succeed. Unfortunately that is how the youth system works-probably only 1 in 20 makes it. Chelsea have invested multimillions in their youth system and how many are playing for Chelsea (or indeed other league clubs).

Couldn't we just have Nicky Forster back to play up front with Glenn Murray ?
I can't stand this belief in having one (pretty ordinary) striker up front waiting for someone to make a creative forward pass. We might be passing better, but there are fewer attempts on goal. Today was dire.

Today was really dire. I'd prefer a Caskey/Forster frontline myself

It is happening. Jake Caskey is leaving. He will be on the bench Saturday so that the tribunal sets his fee higher when he leaves in the summer.

How does your 'knowledge' square with the fact that the club have said he has agreed a THREE YEAR DEAL that includes a pro contract when he turns 17 next year?

Just seen that on the club website as well. Brilliant stuff!

Albion reserve boss Charlie Oatway says Jake Caskey has a bright future ahead of him, after the England youth international scored the first two goals in the 4-0 Sussex Senior Cup Final win over Bognor Regis Town.

Oatway said, "He has done well today. If I am honest I haven't seen enough of him, but what I have seen suggests he has got a very good chance of going on to be a very good player - but like any player of that age he needs make sure he keeps his feet on the ground.

"I think that he will do that, as he seems a very level-headed kid and he has got good people around him. I am sure they will help him to have a really good career, hopefully with us."

The 16-year-old, who is still at secondary school and sits his GCSEs this summer, capped a dream Bank Holiday weekend with two goals and a man-of-the-match display in the final.

On Friday he agreed a three year deal with the club, which includes a pro deal when he turns 17; then on Saturday he was named in the first-team squad for the trip to MK Dons.
