Really sad news. RIP.

Always remember her best for Mrs Merton and that classic line in the Debbie McGee interview in particular.

I always remember that scene in the Royle Family, crying in the bathroom. Great actress/writer and very funny. RIP.

Really liked her one of the few women that had cracked the art of comedy.

RIP.

A huge talent. The Debbie McGee moment will probably come to define her, but the Royle Family at its best was simply a fabulous piece of work. It takes a brilliant comic mind to take a bunch of characters sitting on the sofa- often for entire episodes- rambling on about fish fingers, or Countdown, or Cheryl next door, and make that funny. More than that though, it was also deeply touching at times. There were scenes that could make you cry (Denise going into labour in the bathroom, with only Jim for company; the episode where Nana died etc). Superb writing, it really was (credit also due to Craig Cash of course), and fantastic acting.

Loved it. Big loss.

The whole series was superbly written but The Queen of Sheba episode was the pinnacle, almost perfectly written and incredibly moving while still being very funny. One of my favourites is the decorating episode, very silly but very very funny.
