Watching City Tottenham, emphasises the importance of a second goalie, and the chances they can get to play - it's not just cup matches!
Don't see why a Brighton fan would watch us all season and decide that we don't really need a decent replacement for every position

Brighton fans have seen our first-choice keeper unavailable through either injury or suspension for a total of 3 games in the last 10 seasons.

We have had a remarkable run of reliability in the GK position to think about it. Hardly an injury to mention, not even a sprained pinky finger.

Roberto said last week that there will likely be a pre-season chance for Rushworth, with Verbruggen at the Euros and McGill in Copa America. So surely makes sense to hold fire on any decisions.

Also, in terms of chances for a back up keeper, a lot of teams have been very reliant on them this season - Newcastle, Chelsea, Liverpool etc.
Yesterday was a case in point with Ederson coming off with a concussion and Ortega's save late in the match. More generally, Ortega has played quite a bit this season, over 1400 minutes across all competitions.

So what’s next for this young talent?

I have to say Bart was outstanding on Saturday. If Steele does leave do we want Carl warming a bench or does another Championship loan make sense? I don’t want him loaned to a Prem team as that would mean he’s also good enough for us.

The manager news could really play a role now...

With the reported Ipswich interest... If we do get McKenna, surely he'd want to keep Rushworth here.

In any case, our next manager might not rate Steele as highly as RDZ did and be keen to have Rushworth as no. 2. Steele may be more likely to go to Arsenal (if there was any truth in that story).

Yep. One player who must be regretting RDZ leaving is Steele. Who knows, the new coach might even prioritise a keeper who can make great saves and command his box?

It would be madness letting him go.

Plus I’m pretty sure we won’t want to strengthen Ipswich.

If the rumours of Sarmiento spending a second season on loan at Ipswich are true then they won't be able to get Rushworth on loan next season anyway.
I’m pretty sure he’ll be with us for pre-season. He’s a talented footballer.

You say that, but it's just the kind of thing we do. I'd be petty and put a stop to it! Anyway, as 23/24 season showed there were a lot of goalkeeper injuries (eg. Newcastle, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City) whilst other teams swapped during the season, meaning that second keepers tended to get a good amount of playtime.

Not sure it'd be a great move - look at what going to Burnley has done to Trafford...

It's not much fun picking the ball out of your net all season

Big Championship club or a season abroad would suit him better

Relegation rivals...?!
Not in my opinion. We’re comfortably mid- table.

Is it? What league rival have we loaned a player to in the PL? ???
