Had a lot of time for Fletch at Palace. Really nice bloke, very sad to see that it hasn't worked out for him there under extremely tough conditions.

I would imagine at lot of lower league managers and non-league can relate to this you 101% in to improve a club you try to get everyone on your side,you have too. This really won't do him any harm it might in fact be the making of him ? PAFC was always a poisioned chalice and he kept them in the league a bit like Steve Gritt.

This sums up the situation IMO. He was brought in to fill the void Reid was sacked and it ended up being a fulltime gig. Also given the financial situation of Plymouth anyone who was appointed was almost destine to fail.

After Peter Reid was sacked he was appointed player/manager (already at the club with his badges so the cheap option) but opted for the manager side (how can you effectively manage if you're on the pitch in the heat of battle). Seemed a nice enough bloke when we were down there.

I really feel for him. He gave up playing to manage them and everything. Could easily still cut it playing in League One.

No he just gave up playing once he took over many said it was a mistake as he had to much to offer on the pitch but very hard to do both jobs I'd imagine
