All a bit of banter, if you take it too seriously, you need to get some more sunlight.

That's my philosophy anyway.

Not really. Reading are a tin pot club that are currently enjoying the most successful period of their history EVER.

Them 1920s just didn't happen then. Cup final and 8 out of the England squad at the time :p

And the mid-90s. And the late 80s.

Originally posted by Albion RodI have to agree with Safeway on this one. Reading never paying more than £800,000 for a player is not really that serprising for a club that has never featured in the top flight of English football - and has indeed spent most of its existence in the bottom two divisions of the football league.

They are a club currently being funded by one individual who built them a stadium and is prepared to underwrite to running loss they make each season, but the trade-off for that is he will not splash out loads of money on players, particularly not when he can poach players and managers from a south coast cloub with a tiny ground and no money, yet who will start next season in the same division as Reading.

I can only assume Madjeski loves the club and will never pull out because without his baqcking they could be in real trouble.

Sadly not true - Madejski doesn't run the club. The club runs the club. You have spent an entire 2 seasons more in the top 2 divisions than us in 130 years! So I make you a Division Two club too by history. Its easy being Reading FC... no need for a super-power as chairman when the club runs itself

What I do not get is why you are on here, other than we play Reading, I am guessing that there are very few Brighton fans on the Reading board or do you have multiple boards? but you are camped on here at times.

Regarding Asaba, he is one that we have been linked with before, not sure how good he now is, but he has performed more effectively at Div 1 level than Iwelumo.

8 of the England squad!!?... in the cup final?... que?...

We were in the top flight 79 - 83, cup final 83, and actually won the Charity Shield in the very dim and distant past!... I wouldn't swap our history for your club's pathetic efforts... even our recent history (2 championships, valiant fight against relegation, and winning the play-off final, in last 4 seasons) is far more appealing than Readings...

IF we get Falmer, we will out-gun you very quickly (1/2 years)... enjoy the moment, Reading fans!... having said that, if we don't get our new stadium, we're royally (pun intended) fcuked!...

On the other hand, when that arrogant to$$er Madjeski leaves you're club (this will happen), you are left with a great half-empty stadium, and a steadily declining league status... as I said, enjoy the moment...

Reading are tossbags. Small club with big club attutide. I hate it when people come on a BRIGHTON message board and talk shit about the shitty arse club they support. I mean, Reading, its not even a City for fucks sake...

I was going to reply to Wilts' inane ramblings about a great Reading side when the ball weighed eight-stone, players wore shorts down to their ankles and goal nets hadn't been invented, but b.w.2 has captured the moment perfectly.

I will be interested to see how the club runs itself when Madjeski finally packs it in. If I'm not mistaken his company sponsored the bloody club for aboutb four years. Can't get much more direct than that!

All the time Madjeski is in charge, Reading will be a "championship" side, nothing better. He lacks real ambition for the club. He thinks nothing of paying out £2m for a piece of sculpture, yet Coppell has to really battle to convince him to sign decent players.

8 of the England squad in 1927 were from a side that finished 14th in Division 2? Jesus! We moan about todays squad, what would we say if over half the side were comprised of players from Crewe Alexandra?

The greatest thing that Reading FC have ever won is the Simod Cup in 1988. The fore-runner to the Zenith Data Systems Cup, one of the most pointless competitions ever invented in footballing history, alongside the Texaco Cup. Of course you couldn't even defend the trophy because Reading were relegated that season.

I can understand West Ham or Sunderland or Leeds fans taking the piss out of us because they are so far ahead of us in terms of history and tradition. Reading are almost exactly the same as us and if Madjeski hadn't taken over then there is no way Reading would be in the position they are now.

Having watched Football Diaries on BBC2, I get the feeling that football was not particuarly a passion for Mr. Madjeski, but the chance to have absolute power and control. This I also felt spilled over into his dabbling in the fine art world, where his money could buy respect.

Control seemed to be everything to him, rather than passion.
