Yeah I stopped there about 5 years ago, when I used to work on the cruise ships.
Beautiful like most of the caribbean islands. To be honest I'm not sure if spending a week or two there is for me, I would take a nice cruise and see a few places rather than spend it all on one island, but each to there own!

People go there just for the planes. I read that there's a beechside bar that has landing and take off times outside instead of a pricelist and menu

Been there many times as my ship went there every other week last Caribbean season. Lovely place, half French & half Dutch. Fantastic beaches.

Yes we were there on the summit last Easter. Nice place, north of the island is French, French number plates and I think they used euros. Went to really fab beach complex in the French area, supposedly half nudist half not, but although we all went searching for beautiful naked bodies (two Americans with us were most intrigued by this idea ) we didn't see the nudist bit...lol

Really lovely place.

A Dutch friend of mine lived on the island for 7 years & loved it (kept inviting me over to stay) - unfortunately he was murdered by 3 locals about 18 months ago - apparently crime is on the increase!

Thats true and whats even better is that topless girls drink free at the bar. Been to St maarten many times, crime there is quite bad and I'd strongly suggest taking a few days out and heading to Anguilla, one of the UK's Overseas Territories by ferry (about 20 minute ride).Anguilla is quieter, has better beaches and much friendlier. Great people there.

Norwegian Cruise Line, head back to MV Norwegian Sun next week; saw my last game of the season today

Have a safe journey and hope the cruise season goes well. We have been on the jade and jewel, only ship visits for a day unfortunately, but very impressed with the ships. Looking to go on Azamara again in August Venice to Rome through the greek islands.

Didn't do west indies this year , but hopefully looking next year.
