can you put normal water into the cooling system on a turbo car? as it says in book it should be distilled water.

On NSC for over two decades...
In an ideal world you'd put distilled water into any cooling system, or boiler for that matter, as it'll help them last longer as they won't scale so quickly.

If it says use distilled water, then i suggest thats what you use...............Turbo engines aren't cheap, distilled water is.

I've never heard of putting distilled water anywhere but in a battery. Even then it isn't essential.

If it says in the book don't do it, then do not!
Then again it says in the bible don't shag around but we all do!
So you decide..........

Phone your local whatever car it is dealer and ask them.
They will point you in the right direction unless they are total wankers and want you to f*** up your car!!

Ideally you should be using Type IV water - which is both de-mineralized & de-ionized. If you can't get this, use distilled water instead. If you can't get that use bottled mineral water. I would strongly advise against using tap water though. As previously mentioned, turbo charged engines are very expensive and using tap water as a coolant is a sure fire way to reduce the life of your engine.

Most good garages will use distilled water and the very good ones will always add a Forte Cooling System Conditioner. This will help prevent electrolytic corrosion within the cooling system and helps reduce the running temperature.

Have a look here

Distilled water doesnt make the cooling system rust like normal water does, french cars are the worst for it, when i hand A Escosrt RST, i used normal water with antifreeze (50-50) and wasnt a problem,
