Our old cup adversaries are on the brink of existence due to owner and benefactor Jeff King pulling out all funding as from the end of the month. King has been paying £8,000 a week to support the club this season, and as this will stop, the club cannot survive on crowds of 400. Looks like they will reform and start again in the Essex Senior League. I'll keep you updated. Any messages of support can be posted on the forum below

We played a friendly up there earlier in the season. Cracking club but playing for them was Minton, McDougal and Boylan amonst quite a few well known others and I remember thinking they must struggle to pay for all this on such small gates.

Jeff King was a top bloke. 8k a week though:eek:

No love lost with Pikey Island im afraid. Remeber drawing 2-2 up there in the F.A Cup and then being pelted with bricks whilst trying to get back to my car.

Comon, we're going down to League One, not the Conference

It says he's scored 170 goals since 2001 for them. Sounds like a decent conference / league two player but definately not good enough for League One (or possibly the Championship!).
