Anyway, here goes...

This has been a strange season on and off the pitch. We are bitterly disappointed to have been relegated from the Championship - but this club grew up in the school of hardknocks and we'll pick ourselves up and battle back.

I make no apologies when I say the new stadium is the crux of everything related to Brighton & Hove Albion. Back in October, as we celebrated a 'yes' decision on Falmer, the season seemed to be shaping up nicely towards one of mid-table anonymity, and we were progressing towards starting work at Falmer before the end of this year.

However, the winter months brought two major influences on the season: a bad injury on Boxing Day to our inspirational skipper Charlie Oatway; while off the pitch we were forced to endure the petty and maicious delays caused by Lewes District Council, backed by Lewes MP, Norman Baker, who continue to oppose the new stadium at Falmer.

These delays will NOT defeat us - if anything they make us even more determined to triumph against the small-minded actions of a snobbish minority (will they ever wake up to the benefits and pleasure that the stadium will bring to countless thousands of ordinary people across Sussex - including Lewes?) - but what the delays have done is to further restrict our hand financially.

That made it hard for us to bring in new faces at Championship level - and most importantly, that elusive experiences striker who would improve our squad. Unltimately, not finding a target man to complement our younger players, has been our main downfall.

We hoped Federico Turienzo would have made a bigger impact - but injuries have blighted his season; GNW eventually proved to be that striker, but he arrived too late to make a big difference.

Many of you have questioned why we didn't act sooner. It wasn't for the want of trying. We have identified over 30 potential targets - but failed to clinch them for a number of reasons: players deemed not for sale or loan by their clubs, unwilling to come to Brighton, ludicrously expensive, unable to get work permits, agreeing to come but then getting injured or simply choosing to go elsewhere. These aren't excuses - they are har factsof life for this club in its ninth year without a decent ground.

Improving our forward line remains our priority this summer, together with more midfield creativity, to ensure we start next season with the strongest squad possible.

Our young players, together with some experienced heads, will provide the foundation for that squad in League One as we look to challenge at the right end of the table.

It has been watching the progress of the club's fledgling players at all levels that has enthused me this season - and i'm sure many of you too - and that gives us all great hope for the future.

The Championship experience will be vital for those youngsters, who will be hungry to get the club back to that level as quickly as possible.

Of course there are now 10 new professionals, who will be looking to justify our confidence in giving them senior contracts. Eight of the ten provided the backbone of the youth team's record-breaking FA Cup run - one of the bright spots of the season - as Albion comprehensively beat Premiership big guns Chelski and Blackburn before cruelly crashing out against Newcastle in an emotional evening at St James Park. However, it was surely justice that the Under 18s didn't end the season empty handed, as they won the Youth Alliance League title with three games to spare.

Those of us charged with the running of the club know that it has very special supporters. We thank you all for your passion - at home and away - through yet another never-a-dull-moment Seagulls season.

Signed

Dick Knight

Abort, retry, fail
I have done away with the French prat. The man of many disguises.

England 1 France 0 :clap2:

Glad I was missed!

Ps As Teddy said, chill MESP! These things will work themselves out... I am sure they are not sunning themselves yet and weighing up the future, as we speak. This is no time, for rash decisions.

The only thing that has upset me, Jim, was getting rogered by Stoke City!
