It was bad but now it has gone too much the other way.

Teachers cannot even clean up kids who come to school teeming in nits because it is classed as assault. Nitty Nora isn't allowed to comb through to look for them.

God how I used to hate when that Nit Nurse used to get loose at my long hair. Head would be sore for days afterwards

Always assumed that the nit thing was just a myth perpetuated by middle-class parents - oh, yes, well it's well known that nits prefer hair that gets washed more often by loving well-off parents than the hair of oiks

Yeah, RIGHT :lolol:

At my backward village primary school in Hurstpierpoint I remember one of our teachers used to line up bits of chalk on the edge of his desk and if anyone spoke he would flick them. His aim was unfailing, and it used to really sting if he caught you on the ear.

Other favourite items for him to throw at miscreants included books, blackboard rubbers (always left a nice chalk mark on your jumper so everyone knew you'd been naughty in Mr Corrie's class) pens, pencil sharpeners and on one memorable occasion, a wooden chair.

He was a top guy really, as long as you were over the age of 11. Happy days.....

It have all been abolished just as I was starting out at primary school. I ended up standing outside the Head's officeon numerous occassions. What used to shit me up was the "We'll be sending a letter home to your parents" Where the slipper was in action!
