Yep, that's the fella. The guy who watches us crashing out the moment we play a decent team.

Nah, I've been Sven bashing for 4 years now, since that feeble tactically inept, exit at the hands of 10 man Brazil.... however, it was hot that day, and not all of our players were fully fit.

Well you have your wish, he is off when England's tournament finishes. Then you have the defensive McLaren incharge, so more of the same.

I will expect the same moaning, except people might lay off him, after all, he is English.

How much actual training in the heat of Spain was done then? From the looks of Saturday's performance we probably avoided running around in the heat, and just had a bit of a wind-down in the sun and all chatting about how tough the season had been.

We were quite simply not getting used to playing in the heat, and that is one of the lessons I can't believe we haven't learnt from previous tournaments.

Surely we can't be so amateurish that we just said "Ah Germany, that won't be hot at all, it'll probably be cold and wet. We'll be ok."

No idea how much training was done. Maybe you should write to the FA? Am sure they need the input.

I wouldn't have said we were bombing forward in the 1st half against Paraguay. We were just doing exactly what we needed to do - putting them under pressure, competing for the ball in their half, passing and moving effectively and asking questions. The 2nd half we did the opposite - sat off them, let them have the ball, let them dictate, and whilst they wern't good enough to pose any real threat, you're only a free kick or a dodgy pen away from conceding and then the trouble REALLY starts.

I just feel this team is good enough to dictate the play to teams like Paraguay, we proved it in the first 45. But if Sven is them telling them to drop back and protect what we have, thats when it turns into a right old scrap of a performance, and we ARE better than that. We didn't need to be so negative, and the heat would've been far less of a factor if we'd simply done what we did in the first half, ie kept hold of the ball and make THEM do the running.

I'm not trying to be negative. Just calling it as I saw it.

Exactely. First of all surely it's easier to defend a lead in their half not with our backs to the wall. Secondly with the midfiled we have surely we can hold onto a ball without having to comit too many players forwards. Let then get knackered trying to get the ball back.

This is what will happen -

We will beat Trinidad on Thursday

then draw with sweden in the final game - top the group.

2nd round we will thump poor old ecuador convincingly increasing the expectation once again

Quarter finals will will go ahead only to fall apart as a team quickly susses out out one dimensional effort and get turned over by a far superior team with ideas other than just sitting behind the ball knocking passes straight back to them. letting them shot after shot.

My god it's deppressing - Don't think i've ever felt that deflated after a win .

f***ing hell mate, even I feel like saying we did win you know. We are top of the group. By all means say what you didn't like about our WIN and how you would like to see things done differently but FFS there is nothing to get depresed about!

Pull yourself together!

I'm very pleased he's going, I think he has regularly come up short of what the group of players have been capable of.

McLaren would not have been my choice, but I wouldn't class him as defensive. Did you see Middlesbrough in the UEFA cup? As I say, he was not my choice, but in those games he certainly showed an ability to change the side with substitutions in a way that Sven has never managed.

I may or may not criticise McLaren when he's in charge, it depends on what he does. But any criticism I throw at McLaren will be in response to how he does. I don't criticise as knee jerk reaction, I don't think I have unrealistic expectations. I hope he's been able to see what Sven has done wrong and learn from it.

I think even McLaren knows he was not the first choice!!!

With regards to McLaren the key will be who is on his staff.

I have no big issues with Sven. There have been times when his lack of a decent plan b has cost us (Portugal), however this tournament if everyone is fit I think by default there is one and he is better than what he replaced.
