I was more puzzled by Balotelli's inclusion. Strange decision IMO. Had a couple of good games in the Euro's and not much else.

Rooney is tending to be used in a different role these days and seems to be addressing it positively so I think he is class (football wise)

The thing which remains against him is the disciplinary one and one which was absolutely proven yesterday against Chelski. He stupidly gave away a free kick having retaliated through, it appears, frustration. That free kick however brought Chelsea back into a game they looked like having lost at that stage.

I still think he is exceptionally talented BUT ----

Seems funny it's Rooney not Ashley Cole - much as I dislike Cole as a person he's been playing a blinder recently.

can only be to put an English name on the list and they couldnt think of anyone else. and to be fair i cant really think of anyone else either. first name springs to mind is Bale... even then thats probably for the previous season than this year. bit sad really isnt it.
