If this site gets much slower then some people will decide to go to other boards. Would it be possible to speed things up Bozza?
Just name your price. ???

Maybe if they ran the backups overnight instead of between 9 & 10 AM it would help.

NSC has been politely asked to take it's business elsewhere by April 24th due to the demands we place on our shared server - so we're looking for a new home...

Does that mean a new look NSC and everyone will have to re-register?

No but maybe we'll have to pay to use the institution that is NSC. Well, I have no problem with that.

What do other boards do?

This is a problem with web sites as well. It seems to be the bandwidth use that causes the problem rather than the size of the web sites. With web pages, I have to search around for one with unlimited bandwidth facility.

A lot of boards offer either premium membership where those who make a fixed contribution of, say, £10 or £20 per year get extra features over those who do not contrbute whilst others just ask for voluntary contributions as and when members are able.

waccoe.com the Leeds version of NSC uses eniki.net for hosting, we have very little downtime/server problems etc. I am not sure how much it costs per year, but I don't think it was that expensive.

Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
Actually (and unusually in Bozza defence) compared to most other boards, this one is extremely fast.

Invisionfree is very fast, and I have Dial-up! To be honest, I don't like the style of this board, and its a good 15 secs slower than Invision for me - and Invisions free!

http://s4.invisionfree.com/strikerworld

Its free, and can have plenty of boards!

:)
