Contrary to the previous replies, I do not believe we have a definitive answer to this.

What I do know* is that we have NOT paid a loan fee for his services. Some have suggested that if you do pay a fee, it bestows stronger 'rights' on the receiving club.

Many have stated that a season long loan can only be terminated early if ALL parties (both clubs and player) agree to do so.

its all about rules of registrations. paying a fee is pretty irrelevant, it becomes a matter of costs if someone wants to buyout such agreements, the rules around registration are firm. so either there is a rule (someone before stated there is) or there isn't.

How long is his contract with Bournemouth? Is it possible that we could buy him, or would that eat too much into the budget, for a striker with pace?

signed 3 years deal in Aug 2015, for £4m, so 18mth left and lets face it at 33 not likely to cost more than £1-2m. and if he wants it to happen, wages can be lower and signing on fees waived.

Lad looks utterly happy in his skin this season. Plays with a smile on his face which he never did before. He's got the perfect work/life balance right here right now. He lives one street down from me, here in Preston Park. Gets to drop his little un off at nursery in the mornings. Have zero doubt he'd love to see out his playing career here, just like BZ did. Just needs the board to pay the going rate for quality like they (and the muppet manager of the time) didn't, last time he was here. Match made in heaven. Down to the board to not let it f*ck up.

Many have stated that a season long loan can only be terminated early if ALL parties (both clubs and player) agree to do so. That sounds plausible if there is no recall clause in the deal. In this case, Murray's thoughts are very much influenced by location / work-life balance, so he isn't likely to agree to be sold to say, Sunderland or Celtic.

There is also the FIFA / regulation issue - he's been registered to Bournemouth and Brighton this season - I'm not convinced it is legal for him to register for a third club, save for a short-term loan (when his registration stays with Bournemouth - and that is only permissible to League One or abroad).

To be honest the most viable options are either Bournemouth (recall) or Palace - no point going to a 'close' championship club given the position Brighton are in, and I dont think he is good enough for the likes of Arsenal or Chelsea, the only other possibility for me is Westsham (but again would think they will be looking to buy higher up the food chain)

He's not our player, remember. He's ALREADY sitting on a nice fat Premier League salary, that Bournemouth rather rashly committed to for three years. He'll not likely get a significantly better deal elsewhere.

As alluded to elsewhere on the thread his wife is local and his house is nearly finished. A large chunk of his time when he was at Bournemouth was spent in his father-in-law's cab doing a monstrous commute. The current situation suits him very nicely indeed and I'm sure a permanent signing would suit both parities if circumstances allowed in the summer.
