8/8/1986 Gerry Ryan Testimonial - result 4-0 to Spurs.

Season before we had Arsenal and Liverpool and the season after Arsenal. Lost 1-2, 1-4 and then 2-7 to Arsenal! I have only recorded the crowd for the 2-7 defeat to Arsenal and have it as just 4,314!

Absolutely. Looked brilliant. That day was one of the best atmospheres that season. Brady was treated worse than a criminal by those assent strippers in charge then.

Thanks

Are you sure? Sol Campbell first played for Spurs in 1992. I believe the game that you are thinking of may have been the year Spurs signed Jurgen Klinsman 1994, it was supposed to be his debut game but he didn't play. Sol Campbell was certainly immense if we are thinking of the same game. Can't remember the score but we did get well beaten.

Was a pre season friendly and certainly not Ryan's testimonial.

I can remember watching Sol Campbell in a pre season friendly at Goldstone, he was an absolute man mountain and stood out head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch. Not sure of the year but that was an impressive performance.

Probably Gary Chivers testimonial in 1994. 1.1 final score.

I remember losing 3-0 to Spurs pre-season in the early 90's - maybe 1992 or 3? Was Mrs KK's first Albion game.
I had to ban her as a Jonah in early 2000's as she had by then still NEVER seen us score or even draw - let alone win. Best result she saw in a decade or so of casual attendance was a 1-0 reverse at Rochdale (Ashley Neale's finest hour...)
The Amex seems to have cured the issue though - Barnesy scored after 90 seconds vs Villareal to break her twenty year goal drought on her first visit, and she celebrated her first ever win on her 2nd visit; vs Cheltenham last week.
I think we'll limit Mrs KK's attendance to pre-season and the Frank Worthington cup for now, but if her record improves further an actual league game may be on the cards.....veremos.

For gods sake, don't let her near the Amex this season of all seasons. Please, I'm begging you. We're ****ed if you do, at the moment there's a glimmer of hope still.

I come from a non sporty family background (so I can't ask my dad as a neighbour took me)and I am trying to find out what my first ever Albion game was. It was around 1986 in a friendly V Spurs. I was very young at the time and I know Hoddle scored and I think Spurs won 4-0 but I can't rember that much. It may have been a testamonial. If any one of you decent folks could enlighten me I would be most grateful.

I think I went to that game, and I am sure the programme was just a paper sheet. I have it still at home somewhere, when I get home I will look for it and let you know. If it is that one and you want it as a keepsake you can have it. Will let you know later tonight.

That would be amazing! Thank you very much. I have accumulated hundreds of programmes over the years but the first game you went to is always extra special.

😎 Chill. Only went to the Frank Worthington Cup game to try and ensure we lost and got out of that competition early. Hey ho.
No league points will be put @ risk for the entertainment of Mrs KK, I can assure you!

We played Spurs in Graham Moseley testimonal and they started their full 1st team with Linekar Gazza etc by half time all had been substituted for youth team players.

3rd April 1990. That wasn't a 'proper' friendly for us, as it was the 1983 Cup Final team v Tottenham

We definitely played Spurs in a pre season friendly which I think was in August 1994 when the wonderful Liam Brady was the manager. We played in those dark blue and maroon stripes and Gazza played up to the North Stand and got a great reception. Is it possible it is that one you are thinking of?

Blue and black. I've still got one of them.

Thanks for that - it was '94 I was thinking of. So it took the Mrs 19 years to see us score and almost exactly two decades to see us win. On that basis... If she lives to be about 306, she might be there the night we're crowned Champions of Europe then.

Sorry Fozzyboy thanks to Hiney link I can see the one I have is this one. If this is it though your more than welcome to it as it was your first game.
