Wasnt Thatcher supposedly for freedom of choice etc? Then accept a lot of people hated the bitch. To say she wasnt a divisive figure is ridiculous.
This is a 'free' country, and if people want to burn fecking effigys of her, no biggie.

Indeed, and it seems at least some of them have been encouraged to scream anti-Thatcher rants on the streets by Left-wing teachers. How stupid are those teachers when they involve themselves in politics in a public place when they are the very people with daily charge of our young people. If nothing else, it gives the impression that at least some of our teachers are rabid Communist activists. And if some are, then many could be. It is disturbing to wonder just how far our young have been indoctrinated by such teachers, and, indeed, by the BBC. It is not Thatcher herself who was divisive. It was far-left Labour activists who were and continue to be divisive and this is precisely why Labour was continually voted out for 18 years from 1979-1997. Glenda Jackson does her party a disservice as do the holders of all those empty Labour benches in Parliament yesterday. The party seems to be going right back to the 1979-style thinking which made it so unelectable. They and their followers are so stupid that they learn nothing.

Of all the extreme and rather hysterical statements that have been posted on the NSC thatcher threads this is probably the most facile.

The mere fact that there are so many violent opinions for and against her indicates the extent of her divisiveness.

Utterly brainless.

We use the First Past the Post system. Governments have discussed the system of Proportional Representation, but have never taken it up. However, what do you do when 44% votes for one party, 34% votes for another and 22% for another? Do you have an automatic coalition for the combined votes of the lesser two parties? This argument is all about the manipulation of statistics by people who don't understand them.

No, it's about English and its proper use. If someone says "the majority of people voted for her" then she needs to have got over 50% of votes, that's what a majority is. It's nothing to do with manipulating statistics, or what system we use to elect people, simply English.

"More people voted for her than for anyone else" - true
"The majority of people voted for her" - not true.

McCarthyism is alive and well in your world.

Teachers are not a different species. They are not planted into their posts by some shadowy communist organisation, they are normal people who want to help children to make progress in life.

They do not indoctrinate our children. They are not experts in brain washing.

The fact that many teachers don't support your beloved Tories is because of the way that the Tories are treating teachers and their profession, education. Gove is possibly the worst Education Secretary in living memory, and teachers are on the receiving end of his backward and destructive policies.

If 18 year olds are protesting on the streets it is not because they have been encouraged to do so by their teachers, and to suggest that it is shows you up as paranoid and bigoted. Teachers and the BBC, rabid Communist activists, indoctrinating our children? Blimey...time you joined some right wing paranoid militia movement...

Let's not forget that teachers teach because of a desire to help others and do something positive for the community in which they live. They do this despite lower financial rewards than are enjoyed by other professions.

You are not going to find many Tories with this outlook so it is hardly surprising that most teachers are left wing.

Sweeping statement.
Anyway, teachers don't have it so bad these days, what with security of employment(it seems impossible to get the sack unless you shag a pupil),long holidays and a pension scheme that despite a few changes, many in the private sector would give their right arm for.

Compare Britain from 1979 and 1990.

It was without doubt a better place. Yes some people suffered as a result, but it is not the states responsibility to support loss making businesses.

And one of the great myths about Thatcher was that she cut back costs in the NHS. It's bollocks, In 1990 she was spending more on the NHS than was being spent in 1979, and that is a fact. Even when adjusted for inflation it is considerably more than the labour party were spending on it prior to Thatcher coming to power.

This whole anti Thatcher stuff is totally purile nonsense built up by left wing activists who never lived in the 70's, totally don't understand economics and have some idealistic view that regardless of how hard you work the state owe you a living. Well they don't. If you want to earn a good living, you have to get up off your arse and go out and earn it. It's simple. And Thatcher supported those that did that. Simple.

And in every economic test the country was better off as a result of the Thatcher years.

Unemployment in 1979 was 5.4% versus 7.1% in 1990 UK Unemployment Rate

Interest rates were below 15% when she was elected, 17% after 6 months of her rule and 15% again when she left. Bank of England reaches fourth anniversary of record low base rates | Business | The Guardian

So if you created an economic test that ignored unemployment and interest rates I could believe you. The unemployment is actually worse because it was Thatcher's government that moved people from unemployment benefit to incapacity benefit to fudge the figures, damage which is still being undone by today's Tories.

"The witch is dead" sales will go directly into the pockets of the least deserving and, therefore, this initiative would have been applauded by Thatcher and should be welcomed by all right minded Tories.

Judy Garland and her can have a good laugh about it all in Hades.

Also they are a bunch of fazy ****ers who cannot be arsed to get a proper job with normal holidays. Always trying to find another strike for more time off as well!

Everything that you ever write is knee-jerk, ignorant and stupid. You might as well just type "Look everyone, I'm a monumental bellend," as it's what I deipher from every one of your various ramblings.

That would bet a bit samey though. If he mixes it up a bit it means a new little drop of sunshine every time you open one of his posts.

I think you need to wind your neck in on this one. The teachers I know are busy spending their " Easter Holiday" preparing lessons for next term. During term time they're in school by 8, never leave before 5 and always take work home.
I recently accompanied my autistic son on a residential school trip. The "lazy" teachers spent five days looking after kids from 6 in the morning til midnight. For a few of those kids even in leafy Sussex, this was highlight of their childhood, they'd not get an opportunity like this from their home life. And we were at the centre with an inner city school and several others from the south east. All the schools relied on teachers giving up their time to be able top do this, teachers who went year after year, not just at my sons school but from all the schools there.
I know you're partly on a windup, but i also know part of you really believes this tripe. I think it's time you gave some real thought to how much we really owe to people in profession like teaching and leave the lazy trolling to a palace thread.

How is it a spin? Purchasing this single is doing nothing more than supporting the free market, globalised sort of business that Lady T loved.

But they aren't downloading it to protest her policies, it's more a celebration. If it's protesting anything, it would be the sort of coverage that downplays how divisive she is, that many people aren't sad she is gone. That the money goes to a capitalist business is irrelevant for most.
