Is what cambridge need to save there club just like to wish them luck. a club close to the heart as i used to watch them while at college come on the u's

United fans have 20 days to save the club
Cambridge Fans United have launched an appeal to save the club following a supporters meeting on Monday.
CFU chairman David Matthew Jones explained: "The situation facing the club on the pitch is very serious - off the pitch it is critical.

"The immediate challenge is to ensure Cambridge exists as a club on 1 March."

United's directors announced last week that £300,000 is needed by the end of February to ensure survival and another £300,000 by the end of the season.

Fund-raising will start with bucket collections at this Saturday's home game against Macclesfield.

Been in touch with the guys at Cambridge Fans United over the past couple of weeks.

They are now arranging the Fans United 2005 day for their home match to Wycombe on Saturday 19 March.

I know quite a lot of Seagulls said they wanted to go (Brighton don’t have a game that weekend) and that Wrexham had almost filled a bus for it (they are away at Swindon that day, so quite understandable they’d prefer Cambridge!)

The capacity of the Cambridge ground is about 10,000 and I know the organisers are hoping for a good show and loads of publicity. With relegation to the Conference on the cards, administration beckoning and no ground, they know they could fold this Summer.

Be great if we can get loads of Blue and White stripes there and make a BIG noise – also a great chance to catch up with our friends from Wrexham.

As their highest attendance so far this season is 4,118 and their average is just 3,434, I shouldn't think they will have too many problems squeezing everybody in.

That's going to have to be some bucket collection to raise £600,000 between now and the end of the season. Even getting £300,000 by the end of February is, on crowds of less than 4,000, an almost impossible task.

Agree - but the collection is not only among the crowds at matches - Grimsby also trying to raise £700k by the end of the season - gather fans fromthe two clubs are in close communication

The only saving grace is maybe the fact that there are many VERY wealthy people who have links with Cambridge through the University and by that to the city - but finding a well-heeled academic philanthropist who also wants to buy a struggling football club, is another matter!

Just checking back, I now realise the day I refer to, the day less than 2 weeks ago was called 'Clubs in Crisis Day'.

Football fans unite for Clubs in Crisis

THOUSANDS of football fans are putting aside tribal differences in a day of unity for clubs on the brink of financial ruin.

On Saturday 29 January fans from all over the country will descend on Wrexham’s Racecourse Ground - for their match against Doncaster Rovers - in a mass display of solidarity to tell the Football Association and Football League: “Act now or clubs across the land will go out of existence”.

The difference is so obvious. I feel such a fool.
